SOME FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS...ANSWERED...

The Velvets usually play a two and half hour set, with a 15 min break in the middle. This will often coincide with evening supper at the Venue. Our drinks reception Trio plays for 2 hours.
We always keep our music at a level that can be enjoyed by all, even in more intimate venues, your guests will not be forced out of the room by volume.
We have our own top quality sound and lighting equipment, all we need at the venue is a power socket!
We can be ready to play in about 30mins. Many venues need to “turn around” the room after dinner, and we can set up while this is happening or as soon as the band area/stage is cleared.

We are happy to travel all over the country. A travel charge may apply for distances more than an hour from Dublin. We use AA Ireland route planner to calculate travel charges. For example, Dublin to Roscommon return trip is calculated at approximately €40 fuel cost per band member - the 4 hours travel time is free!
Yes! We have a full set of great music for dancing, we have been playing weddings and dance events for many years. Have a look through our Playlist.
A First Dance together as Husband and Wife is a lovely and important tradition! We will be happy to play any song you may have in mind, or we can suggest some popular ones if you like. We can play a special recording through our sound system if you prefer. The First dance is also a great way of getting everyone focused on the dancefloor and getting the party started!
If you opt for our DJ service, he will set up at the same time as the band, and we will share the sound system - this means less equipment, less speakers and a neater set up. It also means he seamlessly can play his first note at precisely the same time as the Velvets play our last!
